NDC Screening Committee Clears Peter Obi as Sole Presidential Aspirant

The national screening committee of the Nigeria Democratic Congress has cleared former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, as the party’s sole presidential aspirant ahead of its forthcoming primaries.

Obi arrived at the NDC national secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday evening, accompanied by Senator Victor Umeh, who represents Anambra Central.

He was screened by a committee headed by former Minister of Education, Sam Egwu, who said the panel was satisfied with Obi’s performance during the exercise.

According to Egwu, Obi complied with the requirements of the Nigerian Constitution, the Electoral Act, and the party’s internal provisions.

The committee later presented Obi with an official clearance letter and the party’s nomination form numbered 001.

Obi had picked the NDC presidential nomination and expression of interest forms on Sunday, May 17, before the deadline for presidential aspirants closed.

Although the party extended the sale of forms for other elective positions to May 24, it said the deadline for presidential nomination forms had already closed.
