The House of Representatives member representing Maiduguri (metropolitan), Hon. Abdulkadir Rahis, has donated cash to 442 executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his constituency.…....
The development comes days after Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan made the headlines for giving N135,650,000 to APC executives in the same constituency.
It was gathered that Rahis distributed N26 million among the party officials. Both lawmakers said the money was meant for the celebration of Sallah.
Rahis was declared the winner of the just-concluded primary election, having received the highest number of votes, 20,509.
If elected, Hon. Rahis would serve his fifth consecutive term in the green chamber. He secured the seat after serving five terms as chairman of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council.
Addressing the executives on Facebook, the APC aspirant said the gesture was part of his long-standing tradition of supporting party loyalists and stakeholders during the festive period.
The event brought together party executives, ward officials, supporters, and stakeholders from across the constituency.
However, the gesture has been greeted by mixed reactions online.
While party loyalists and executives praised the lawmakers, others criticised the act of transporting large sums of cash and displaying it in public.
