The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, has hailed workers across the state on the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration, describing their contributions to Lagos’ growth and economic strength as immeasurable.

In a statement issued on Friday, 1 May, 2026 Ojelabi said Workers’ Day remained a special occasion to honour labourers and employees for their sacrifices, achievements and commitment to dignified service.

He noted that workers had continued to sustain Lagos’ reputation as a resilient, dynamic and progressive state through their daily dedication.

According to him, workers remain the driving force behind the development strides recorded in Lagos since the return of democracy.

“On this Workers’ Day, I extend my deepest appreciation to all workers across Lagos. You are the lifeblood of this great state,” Ojelabi said.

He added that the hard work and commitment of the workforce had kept Lagos moving while preserving its standing as the “Aquatic Splendour,” full of promise and opportunity.

“Your dedication and hard work keep Lagos moving and sustain its reputation as the Aquatic Splendour, resilient, dynamic and full of promise. Since the dawn of our democracy, you have remained the backbone of every milestone and progress that we celebrate,” he said.

Meanwhile, the APC chairman also linked the progress recorded in Lagos and across the country to the efforts of workers under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

He said labour remained central to national growth, stability and productivity, stressing that the contributions of workers had helped position Lagos as a beacon of progress and national pride.

“Across the nation, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the steadfast commitment of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, workers continue to play a central role in driving growth and stability,” he said.

Furthermore, Ojelabi assured workers that the APC-led government remained committed to prompt payment of wages and the protection of labour rights in line with international standards.

“As an APC-led government, we remain committed to ensuring that workers receive their rightful wages promptly and that labour standards continue to align with global best practices,” he stated.

He particularly commended youths, women and men in the workforce for their resilience and support for nation-building.

“I especially commend all Lagos workers, youths, women and men, for your resilience and unwavering dedication. Your continued belief in progress and commitment to nation-building strengthens our collective resolve,” he said.

According to him, the role of workers in the economy and society remained beyond measure and continued to inspire confidence in a brighter future.

“Together, we will continue to build a stable, prosperous Lagos and a stronger Nigeria,” Ojelabi added.

He, therefore, wished workers a happy Workers’ Day and urged them to remain steadfast in their service to the state and nation.
