All roads on Tuesday, 5 May, 2026, led to the Golden Live Inn and Event Centre in Oshodi as many All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders in Oshodi-Isolo came out in large number to endorse Taiwo Ayedun (aka Shanana) for House of Representatives, Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency 1 Seat.
The APC leaders were joined by hundreds of members and stakeholders to lend their support for Ayedun.
The development signals early political alignment within the constituency ahead of party primaries, as stakeholders move to present a united front in support of Ayedun’s aspiration.
They described Ayedun as a loyal party man with a strong track record of service, noting his commitment to grassroots development and the advancement of party ideals.
In a letter jointly signed, dated Tuesday, 5 May, 2026 and addressed to the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) Chairman Prince Tajudeen Olusi; Lagos State Chairman of the party, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi; former APC State Chairman Otunba Oladele Ajomale; GAC member Chief Muraino Taiwo and other party leaders, the party chieftains said their decision followed “extensive consultations, deliberations, and careful consideration of all aspirants within the constituency.”
Those who signed the letter include APC founding member in Oshodi-Isolo Chief Olufemi Loye; Elder Femi Ogunbiyi; a former Lagos State House of Assembly aspirant Lanre Malik; Senior Legislative Aide to the Senate President Shoremekun Akorede; Ndigbo leader Modestus Oguibe and Arewa leader Alhaji Abdullahi Mukhtar.
According to the letter, Ayedun served meritoriously as Senior Legislative Aide to former House of Reps member Moruf Akinderu-Fatai for eight years, where he gained significant legislative experience and contributed to constituency development initiatives.
He also served as Senior Special Assistant during the administration of former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, a role in which his contributions reportedly impacted positively on residents of Oshodi.
“These roles underscore his competence, loyalty, administrative capacity, and deep understanding of governance and representation. His track record of service, accessibility to the grassroots, and commitment to the welfare of the people clearly distinguish him as the most suitable candidate,” the leaders said.
They emphasised that the endorsement reflects the collective will of party stakeholders across the constituency, including elders, youth representatives, and grassroots mobilisers.
They expressed confidence that Ayedun’s candidacy would strengthen party unity and enhance the APC’s chances in the forthcoming elections, while also ensuring effective representation for constituents.
“We therefore humbly request the State Working Committee to recognise and ratify this consensus endorsement in the interest of party unity, progress, and victory at the polls,” the letter added.
