Children’s Day celebration in Edo State has sparked outrage online after reports claimed that over 50 children allegedly collapsed and were rushed to the hospital following a tear gas incident during the event.
According to viral reports circulating online, the incident happened during the Children’s Day celebration held on May 27, 2026, with eyewitnesses alleging that security personnel discharged tear gas at the venue.
The affected children were reportedly taken to the Edo State Central Hospital for medical attention.
However, reports also claimed that the state government blamed “bouncers” attached to the event for the incident instead of security operatives.
The viral statement read:
“This is heartbreaking. During the Children’s Day event in Edo State yesterday 27/05/2026, over 50 children c0llaps£d and were reportedly rushed to the Edo State Central Hospital after they were sprayed with t£ar gas.
