Oyo Abduction: Family, colleagues bid farewell as slain teacher laid to rest + Video

Family members, colleagues, and sympathisers gathered on Friday in Ogbomoso for the burial rites for Adesiyan Adegboye, who was killed during last Friday’s coordinated attack on schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The Eagle Online reports that the Oyo State Government suspended all school excursions, field trips, sports competitions, and outside-premise activities following the deadly coordinated abduction attacks.

The directive comes as the state commenced burial rites for Adegboye, an assistant headmaster who was killed alongside teacher Michael Oyedokun during the mass school abduction raid.

The burial ceremony was held at Ayegun Baptist Church in Ogbomoso, where mourners paid their last respects to the deceased teacher amid grief and tears.

Video clips and photographs from the event showed sympathisers consoling members of the family as Adesiyan’s remains were brought into the church for the funeral service.

Family members, colleagues, and community residents gathered in tears to pay their final respects amid tight security and mounting grief.

The 49-year-old Adegboye was widely described by his community as a dedicated educator.
