Paris FC owner eyes Klopp as dream Champions League coach

The boss of Paris FC, Antoine Arnault, has admitted he would love to convince former Liverpool F.C. manager Jürgen Klopp to take charge of the club in the future.

Arnault made the comments during an interview with RMC’s “After Foot” programme, where he described Klopp as his ideal managerial target if Paris FC qualifies for the UEFA Champions League.

He said: “If we qualify for the Champions League, I would love to persuade Jürgen Klopp to come and take charge of our team.”

Paris FC, promoted to Ligue 1 last season, is backed by the billionaire Arnault family and Red Bull, which owns a stake in the club.

Klopp currently works as Red Bull’s Global Head of Soccer after leaving Liverpool in the summer of 2024.

Arnault praised the German coach’s personality and football philosophy while admitting many club owners dream of hiring him.

He said: “Who doesn’t dream of having Jürgen Klopp, with his sunny disposition and footballing genius? Sooner or later, we all dream of getting him.”

Klopp remains under a long-term contract with Red Bull until the end of 2029.

Since stepping away from management, the former Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool coach has repeatedly been linked with a return to the dugout, including reported interest from Real Madrid CF and the Germany national team.

However, Klopp has consistently insisted he has no immediate plans to resume coaching duties.

Arnault echoed that position while suggesting a future move could still happen.

He said: “He doesn’t want to return to coaching in the near future, but maybe in three, four, or five years.”

Klopp is also currently working as a television pundit during the FIFA World Cup for MagentaSport.

Meanwhile, Paris FC is preparing for its second consecutive campaign in Ligue 1 after finishing 11th last season.

The club endured a difficult spell during the spring and came close to the relegation zone before promotion-winning manager Stephane Gili was dismissed after a five-match winless run.

Former Paris Saint-Germain F.C. coach Antoine Kombouaré was appointed as replacement and oversaw a strong finish to the season, with Paris FC losing only two of their final 12 league matches to climb four places on the table
