The Zamfara State Police Command has rescued a 10-day-old baby allegedly stolen from the General Hospital, Kaura-Namoda, in Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area of the state, following a swift investigation and coordinated search operation.

The infant was recovered barely three days after a complaint was lodged at the Kaura-Namoda Divisional Police Headquarters over the disappearance of the newborn.

Confirming the development in a statement on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, said preliminary investigation led to the invitation and interrogation of hospital staff who were on duty at the time of the incident.

“Subsequently, on May 15, 2026, at about 08:35hrs, the stolen infant was successfully recovered at a nearby hamlet (name withheld),” Abubakar stated.

The police spokesperson added that the baby was found unharmed and has since been reunited with the biological parents.
