An unidentified man on Friday staged a lone protest at the All Progressives Congress (APC) national secretariat in Abuja, alleging he was abandoned after spending over N30 million to support the party’s 2023 election campaign.

In a video circulating online, the man, dressed in an APC-branded blue shirt, was seen holding a placard that read: “All Progressives Congress. Reward me or kill me. I’m a party man and not a lunatic. I have lost so much for the party. I am depressed and my health is affected.”

The protester claimed he sold his house to fund campaign activities for the APC and has been left homeless and in debt. “I sold my house because of the debt I seemed to owe APC. Because of the work I worked for APC,” he said.

He alleged that he received no compensation after the elections and that the party’s Chief Security Officer threatened to shoot him. “This is the work I did for APC and at the end of it, no reward. Rather, the CSO threatened to shoot me and nothing will happen,” he stated.

The man said the financial strain had left him unable to care for his children. “Since yesterday, my children, I don’t know where they are. I dropped my children with the CSO and APC because I cannot take care of them again. I cannot pay school fees anymore,” he said.

When asked who sent him, he pointed to his APC shirt and replied, “These are the people that sent me.”

Security personnel were seen monitoring the scene as the man paced the entrance of the secretariat. No APC official came out to address him during the protest, according to the footage.

The incident has drawn mixed reactions on social media, with many users questioning his expectation of personal rewards for political work.

As of press time, the APC had not issued any official statement on the protest.
