Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels, has said she is no longer interested in marriage following her separation from her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.
The mother of two, however, said she still wants more children and is determined to have a daughter, insisting that motherhood would feel more complete with a female child.
Daniels made the disclosure during a livestream with TikToker Jarvis at her Children’s Day carnival in Asaba, Delta State.
According to the actress, her view about marriage has changed, but her desire to expand her family remains.
“But for some reason, I’ve checked my mind out of getting married. I’m yet to have a girl, and I must have a girl,” she said.
Daniels said she believes raising a girl child comes with a deeper emotional responsibility for a mother.
“I feel like motherhood starts better. Like, you would understand motherhood when you have a girl child. So, having boys is easy because at least you can groom them to have a role model in a father figure.
“But for your girl child, you have to be that role model for them to emulate,” she said.
The actress recalled that before having children, she never wanted a daughter, but her perspective changed after giving birth to her two sons.
“Before I had my first son, I said, no, never. I will never have a girl child. Never, ever. But after my first, after my second, I remember, for some reason. You know, it’s female kids that remember,” she added.
Reflecting on gender roles in family life, Daniels said women tend to remain more emotionally connected to their homes than men.
“Men will grow, get married and focus more on building family. But for women, she will always remember home,” she said.
Daniels and Nwoko got married in 2019, a union that drew widespread public attention because of their 40-year age gap. She was 19 at the time of the marriage.
The couple share two sons.
Their marriage later became publicly strained in 2025 after Nwoko alleged that the actress was struggling with substance abuse and needed rehabilitation.
Daniels denied the allegations and accused the senator of manipulation, psychological control and abuse.
She later left the marriage and moved into her own home, maintaining that she is now single.
