The wife of the Abia State Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, has commissioned and handed over 35 “Dignity Homes” to indigent widows across the 17 local government areas of the state.
The project was executed by the Office of the Wife of the Governor as part of activities marking Governor Alex Otti’s third year in office.
The commissioning ceremony was held at Umuhute, Ahiake Ndume, Umuahia, which served as the central location for the handover.
Speaking during the event, Mrs. Otti said the initiative was designed to restore dignity, stability and hope to widows who had been living in difficult conditions.
She appreciated Governor Otti for his support and commitment to people-centred governance, noting that the project reflected the administration’s resolve to improve the lives of vulnerable residents.
Mrs. Otti also commended the Special Adviser to the Governor on Policies and Interventions, Dr. Christian Uche Anokwuru, for coordinating the project, as well as the Ministry of Women Affairs, led by Dr. Mrs. Maureen Aghukwa, local contractors and other contributors who supported the successful completion of the homes.

She said the “Dignity Homes” initiative was not just about providing shelter, but about giving widows renewed confidence, safety and a sense of belonging.
