Popular Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has faced backlash on social media following her comments about the recent school abduction incident in Oyo State.
The singer shared a video expressing concern over the disturbing attack, which reportedly involved the forceful abduction of schoolchildren.
A teacher lost his life during the incident, while videos from the scene circulated online and triggered widespread reactions.
“I Heard About the Incident Late” – Tiwa Savage Says
In the video, Tiwa Savage explained that she only became aware of the incident after seeing a post made by fellow singer Spyro.
According to her, she was surprised the matter was not receiving enough attention online despite its seriousness.
Tiwa Savage further revealed that while trying to understand the situation better, she came across a post from media personality KieKie, who reportedly mentioned that the incident had occurred almost two weeks earlier.
“The kidnapping that happened in Oyo State, it was just yesterday that Spyro was speaking about it, that I heard about it. I tried to reach out to some people to know the background story because it was not trending. I saw KieKie’s post, and she said it was almost two weeks ago,” she said.
Her reaction, however, quickly sparked mixed responses on microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter).

Many users criticised Tiwa Savage for allegedly speaking about the incident too late.
Some accused the singer of not paying enough attention to important national issues.
Others went further to label her “pro-Tinubu,” claiming that some celebrities only react when public pressure becomes intense.
A few social media users also mocked her emotional tone in the video, with some sarcastically suggesting she deserved movie awards for her reaction.
