Shukurat Oladipo has been crowned the best defender of the 2025/26 Serie A Femminile season following a standout campaign with AS Roma Women.
The 21-year-old also earned a place in the league’s official Team of the Season after a dominant defensive display across the campaign, helping Roma secure the title.
Her recognition caps a season defined by consistency, tactical discipline and defensive control at the highest level of Italian women’s football.
Defensive dominance drives Roma’s title success
Oladipo made 18 league appearances and played a central role in a Roma backline that finished the season as the most secure in the competition.
Roma conceded just nine goals with her on the pitch, remained unbeaten in those matches, and recorded eight clean sheets during her league involvement.
Her performances were built on strong positioning, aggressive but clean tackling, and high interception rates that consistently disrupted opposition attacks.
Individual recognition follows consistent elite output
Oladipo’s impact was formally acknowledged at the league awards ceremony on Monday, where she was named best defender of the season.
She was also one of four Roma players included in the Serie A Femminile Team of the Season.
The selection featured goalkeeper Astrid Gilardi (Como), defenders Estela Carbonell (Juventus), Ivana Andrés (Inter Milan), and Caterina Ambrosi (Parma), while Roma were heavily represented across midfield and attack.
Coppa Italia final offers chance to complete standout season
Despite already securing major individual honours, Oladipo still has one major target left this season.
Roma will face Juventus in the Coppa Italia final at Stadio Romeo Menti on Sunday, May 24, providing an opportunity to add another trophy to an already decorated campaign.
