Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the Labour Party’s 2023 vice-presidential candidate alongside Peter Obi, has criticised the former Anambra State governor over his political choices and approach to leadership.Full Details. .
In an interview shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, Baba-Ahmed expressed disappointment over Obi’s exit from the Labour Party and his handling of internal party issues.
He argued that Obi should have stayed back to resolve challenges within the party rather than leaving, stressing that commitment is needed in political struggles.
He said: “As much as I dislike what the All Progressives Congress has done against Nigerians, someone who got the Labour Party’s ticket so easily should have stayed to fix the problem of the party no matter how difficult it is.
“My former leader (Peter Obi) saying that wherever there is a quarrel, he will walk away? So there is a quarrel in Nigeria, will he walk away? If you are not ready to fight, stay in your house,” he stated.
Baba-Ahmed also questioned Obi’s wider political direction and suggested that his style may not suit Nigeria’s political climate, especially ahead of the 2027 elections.
