Political analyst Jide Ojo has questioned the figures and process used during the APC presidential primaries that produced Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner with over 10 million votes.…....
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Ojo said several aspects of the exercise raised unanswered questions, especially the reported voter turnout in many states.
He pointed to the Federal Capital Territory, where officials announced that President Tinubu received more than 36,000 votes. According to him, it was difficult to understand how such figures were reached.
Ojo also questioned the high turnout recorded in the election, saying it appeared unlikely for over 90 percent participation to happen when many party members reportedly did not know their voting centres.
He further used Rivers State as an example, noting that the state has 23 local government areas, including riverine communities that are usually difficult to access. Despite this, the results were announced very early in the day.
The analyst argued that even elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission usually take longer because results move from polling units to ward, local government, and state collation centres before final announcements are made.
According to him, the speed at which the APC primary results were announced raised concerns about how the process was handled.
In his words, “Look at Rivers, Rivers has 23 Local government, some of them are on the Riverine, yet, by 3pm or thereabout, there was an announcement of total numbers of votes cast.”
