Nigerian singer Peruzzi has become a trending topic online after making comments about success in the music industry and alleged spiritual influence behind fame.
Speaking during a recent conversation, the singer revealed that a friend once introduced him to a babalawo, claiming the spiritualist had worked for top Afrobeats stars Wizkid and Davido.
According to Peruzzi, he turned down the suggestion because it went against his beliefs and personal values.
He said:
“I had a friend who once told me he knew a babalawo that did it for Wizkid and Davido, but I refused because that’s not how I was raised and I strongly believe in my songwriting.”
The statement quickly generated massive reactions online, with many Nigerians debating whether the singer was indirectly suggesting that the success of Wizkid and Davido was tied to spiritual practices.

Another user, @realidraphael, commented:
“So na babalawo dey run am for Davido and Wizkid? And we were here thinking they had talent.”
Others defended the two Afrobeats stars, insisting their success is based on hard work and talent rather than spiritual influence.

“You know the babalawo and you’re not famous yet?” @okoyeprince6 reacted.
Meanwhile, another user, @PAtubobienemi, pointed out how successful artists often face scrutiny despite their effort and talent.
“Irony is how talent always gets questioned more than effort in this industry.”
