Usman Yusuf Petitions Police, DSS Over Alleged Threats From Kwankwaso

Usman Yusuf, the former head of Nigeria’s National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), has filed a complaint with the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS), accusing Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of making threatening and inflammatory remarks against him.

In a statement released on Friday, Prof. Yusuf said the remarks came after his comments in the media regarding political alliances and national political issues. He explained that although Senator Kwankwaso did not mention his name directly, many people understood that the statements were aimed at him.

Prof. Yusuf also alleged that Senator Kwankwaso called on Kwankwasiyya supporters to “crush” the person he was referring to using the term “fata-fata,” which he said could be interpreted as an incitement to violence or intimidation.

He said such remarks could put his life and the lives of his family members at risk, considering the current political climate in Nigeria.

The complaint urged security agencies to invite Senator Kwankwaso for questioning and to provide protection for Prof. Yusuf and those associated with him.

He also called on political leaders to avoid statements capable of provoking supporters or threatening public peace.

According to the statement, copies of the complaint were also sent to the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), and the United States and European Union embassies in Nigeria.
