In a Facebook post, he noted that he had spoken to the girls and they confirmed they were safe and sound.

He further explained that one was in the block that caught fire, while the other was in a separate block.

“I have just finished talking to two of our girls at Utumishi Girls. They are both safe. The mother of one of them had no idea about the fire incident. It is our office that reached out early in the morning, and she was able to make it to school just a few minutes ago. The other student’s guardian couldn’t make it to school,” he said.

Nyoro also stated that the students had been out in the open spaces since last night and had not eaten anything.

He, however, expressed hope that they would be served breakfast to regain their strength.

“The girls are really shaken. I think the entire school needs counselling, students, teachers, and everyone. While on the phone, I could hear some parents wailing. I think they are yet to find their daughters,” he added.
