Social media activist and content creator Verydarkman has called on teachers and parents across Nigeria to take collective action following the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oyo State.
In a video circulating online, Verydarkman criticized what he described as Nigerians’ tendency to quickly move on from major national issues, arguing that the country often fails to sustain pressure on authorities after tragic incidents.
He insisted that the public should remain focused on the situation until those reportedly being held captive are safely released.
As a show of solidarity, he urged public school teachers to stay away from work beginning Monday, June 1, 2026, and continue the boycott until the abducted teachers and pupils regain their freedom.
He also appealed to parents to keep their children at home, saying the action would demonstrate support for the affected families and draw greater attention to the plight of those in captivity.
According to the activist, such collective action would send a strong message that Nigerians stand united with the victims and their loved ones during the ongoing crisis.
He partly said …
“Nigerians are curs£d with one thing, they think it’s a blessing cut it’s a curs£, they know how to move on quickly. However, on this issue on ground (Oyo State k!dnapp£d students and teachers), we are not going to move on until they are released. As a public school teacher, this is a time to show solidarity with the teachers in capt!v!ty by not going to work, starting from tomorrow, Monday 1st of June 2026, until those in capt!vity are released. Please, parents, stop your children from going to school in solidarity with the little kids that are in capt!v!ty”
