“We can’t go to work” – Lady laments as Eid prayers allegedly block major road, commuters stranded

A Nigerian lady has expressed frustration online after a road allegedly became impassable during Eid celebrations, leaving commuters stranded and unable to reach their destinations.

In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), she complained that vehicles were completely at a standstill as a large crowd reportedly gathered for Eid prayers along a major road, disrupting movement for workers and other road users.

According to her, the situation made it impossible for many people to continue their journeys, as both private and commercial vehicles were stuck for an extended period.

“We can’t go to work. Nobody can move. Cars are on standstill, people are just there waiting,” she lamented in the viral clip.

She questioned why such activities were allowed to take place on a busy road, stressing that it was affecting innocent commuters who had no alternative routes at the time.

The lady further argued that while she respects religious observances and celebrations, blocking a major roadway could create unnecessary hardship for others who also have important obligations.

The video has since sparked mixed reactions online, while some Nigerians supported her concerns about road obstruction and traffic disruption, others defended the Eid gathering, saying it is part of a significant religious celebration.

As the debate continues, many social media users are calling for better coordination between religious organizers and traffic authorities to avoid similar disruptions in the future.
