He mentioned this when discussing the current federal road construction initiatives, emphasising that the current administration is managing numerous projects, some of which were started by past administrations or inherited from them.…....
According to him, the current project scope demonstrates a massive investment in infrastructure across multiple regions.
While evaluating the development and restoration of the Abakaliki-Afikpo highway in Ebonyi State, Umahi made the comments during an inspection visit.
This stop was an integral element of the federal government’s regular inspection of key roadways in the Southeast region with the goal of enhancing connectivity and transportation efficiency.
He went on to say that the Ministry of Works is presently managing both legacy projects that have been approved by previous administrations and ongoing contracts that have been passed down through generations.
While many road corridors and infrastructure renovations are ongoing simultaneously, he claims that the entire financial commitment associated with these activities represents a substantial national investment amounting to trillions of naira.
Regarding the size and distribution of federal projects, the minister emphasised that the public needs to know, especially in the South-East geopolitical zone.
The development of regional infrastructure, he stressed, is an integral aspect of the larger national plan, and the present federal works program is giving priority to a number of road projects.
Umahi went on to discuss regional involvement and national leadership as political factors throughout his engagement.
While voicing his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in the region, he emphasised the importance of players in the South-East exercising caution when making political decisions.
He made these remarks as part of continuing conversations about political alignment, development priorities, and leadership.
Decisions on national leadership, he said, should be based on logic and reason rather than emotions, especially when it comes to voting and presidential support.
He insisted that people should give serious thought to the results of government and who leads it, particularly in strategically important areas like the South and East.
He said, “So I ask my people, the Southeast people, to reign with wisdom and not sentiments. We will support President Tinubu in Southeast. We will not make mistakes. This election is not lottery, and the presidency is not given by sentiments.”
