Nollywood actress Sophia Chisom, also called Soso, has shared her opinion on onscreen kissing in the movie industry, stating that actors should only engage in such scenes for professionalism and not for personal pleasure.…....
The Nollywood actress made the statement while reacting to comments by some actors who claimed they had never experienced a “good kiss” while acting in movies.
Speaking during an interview with TVC News, Soso explained that it would be difficult for any male colleague to get what could be described as a passionate kiss from her during movie scenes because she avoids involving her tongue.
According to the actress, she usually keeps her teeth closed and uses only her lips whenever she is required to perform a kissing scene on set.
She further stressed that she is very conscious about exchanging saliva with anyone, adding that professionalism should remain the focus during intimate movie scenes.
“I don’t know if people kiss with their tongues but I do not kiss with my tongue. My teeth are always close during kissing scenes so it is just the lips. But because it is an act, we have to make it believable.
“Some people kiss with their tongues but I don’t think it is okay to swap saliva with every single person that you shoot with. Besides, it is a job. So whenever I see a colleague complaining that they didn’t get a good kiss it is weird. You are not supposed to get a good kiss, it is a job,” she remarked.
Recently, some Nollywood actors including Saga Adeolu, Soso’s frequent collaborator, have come out to say that onscreen kisses are not pleasurable, stressing that they are yet to get a good kiss in the movie industry.

OfficialJojo0 said, “Soso when your kissing Micheal Dappa nko? You still don’t kiss with your tongue 😏 😀.”
@serdeeq_Sq uttered, “Soso said It’s a job act and go home! Some actors out here auditioning for real romance on set. Madam, you’re professional o! No saliva swapping, teeth sparkling clean, respect!”
@Meksgist reacted, “I’m sure e no pass Maurice Sam or Timini These two just went to Nollywood to be kissing I don’t think they are getting paid for acting , the kisses is their payment.”
@Moneywuman wrote, “Already seen this nd from what she had said I came to understand that some actors actually desire extra despite knowing that it’s just acting add it to what Clinton Joshua said now it all makes sense. Flirting dey some of them eyes if not why complain of not getting proper kiss.”
@nkyluv10 noted, “It’s a fair boundary. Acting is still work, and professionalism doesn’t require losing personal comfort or hygiene standards. If the performance sells the story, then the technique—tongue or no tongue—is secondary. Anyone insisting otherwise is confusing acting with personal entitlement.”
In conclusion, Sophia Chisom’s comments have sparked fresh conversations about professionalism, personal boundaries, and consent in the movie industry. While some social media users supported her stance on maintaining hygiene and emotional limits during intimate scenes, others debated whether onscreen chemistry should require a deeper level of realism.
The discussion has once again highlighted the different perspectives actors hold regarding romantic scenes in Nollywood.
