The estranged wife of Nollywood actor, Akin Olaiya, Nafisat, has alleged that she left their marriage after discovering that the actor married her best friend, who served as her chief bridesmaid during their wedding.
Nafisat made the allegation in a video posted on social media while responding to Olaiya’s recent public statement on the collapse of their marriage.
The actor had, in a statement released on June 22, 2026, confirmed that the couple had separated, saying Nafisat voluntarily left their matrimonial home and that repeated efforts to reconcile with her were unsuccessful.
Olaiya also maintained that there was no crisis leading to her departure.
However, countering the claim, Nafisat alleged that she endured abuse during the marriage before eventually deciding to leave after Olaiya allegedly became involved with and later married her close friend.
She said, “Can you imagine that after the mistreating, pain and everything, the said husband ends up marrying your own best friend?
“So, what does that mean? It’s because I’m not the type that will come out to tell my own side of the story. In my culture, we were not raised that way.”
Nafisat had earlier accused the actor of domestic abuse, although Olaiya has yet to publicly respond to the latest allegations regarding the alleged relationship with her friend.
The couple got married in July 2025, following the collapse of Olaiya’s first marriage.
Speculation over trouble in their union surfaced less than five months after the wedding before both parties eventually confirmed that they had gone their separate ways.
As of the time of filing this report, the allegations made by Nafisat had not been independently verified, while Olaiya had not issued any fresh response to her latest claims.
