The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two armed robbery suspects in the Yola-North Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by command spokesperson SP Suleiman Nguroje, operatives attached to the Doubeli Divisional Police Headquarters arrested the suspects in connection with separate criminal cases.
The first suspect, Idris Auwal, 22, a resident of Doubeli Culvert, was arrested on June 3, 2026. Preliminary investigations revealed that he conspired with three other accomplices, currently at large, to break into a shop at Nassarawo Borehole belonging to one Abdullahi Sunusi.
The suspects carted away a bag containing cash, important documents, and assorted provisions valued at an undisclosed amount. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing accomplices.
In a separate incident on June 5, 2026, operatives of the Doubeli Division arrested another suspect, described as a member of the Shilla gang, who specialises in att@cking and robbing members of the public.
The suspect allegedly approached one Abubakar Abdullahi along the Doubeli Bypass, armed with a cutlass, and robbed him of a mobile phone and the sum of ₦19,000, inflicting injuries on the victim’s head in the process.
Police operatives swiftly responded to the scene, arrested the suspect, and ensured the victim received immediate medical attention. Items recovered include a cutlass, a knife, and the stolen handset.
Both suspects are currently under investigation, while efforts are being intensified to apprehend other fleeing members of the criminal gang.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to combating Shilla gangsterism and all forms of criminality, and encouraged residents to continue providing timely and useful information to support public safety and security.
