The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has directed investigators to expedite action in unraveling the circumstances surrounding the suspected murder of a 23-year-old female student in Alor, Idemili South Local Government Area of the state.
The victim, whose lifeless body was discovered in her residence on June 14, 2026, was reportedly a student of the College of Nursing Sciences, Alor.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the case has been transferred from the Nnobi Divisional Police Headquarters to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, for a comprehensive and discreet investigation.
Police operatives who visited the scene observed a deep cut on the victim’s thigh, visible marks of violence on her body, and blood stains around the residence, raising strong suspicions of foul play.
As part of ongoing investigations, the landlord of the premises has been taken into custody and is currently undergoing interrogation.
The deceased’s body has been deposited in a hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
CP Orutugu charged the investigating team to conduct a thorough and professional probe, stressing that no stone should be left unturned in uncovering the facts surrounding the incident and ensuring that anyone found culpable is brought to justice.
He also reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to securing justice for the victim and urged members of the public with useful information to come forward and assist investigators.
