Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed a security guard and abducted four residents in Paze community around the Byazhin area of Abuja.
The attackers reportedly invaded the community in the early hours of Thursday, causing panic among residents.
The slain security guard was identified as Shuaibu Yerima, who was said to have been engaged to help protect the neighbourhood.
According to reports, the attackers, numbering about eight, shot Yerima dead before whisking away four residents from the community.
The incident has sparked fresh fear among residents of Abuja suburbs, where communities around border areas have continued to face repeated security threats.
Residents are calling on security agencies and the Federal Capital Territory Administration to intensify surveillance and strengthen protection around vulnerable communities.
