Nigerian singer Charles Oputa, better known as Charly Boy, had expressed displeasure at being married to the same woman for nearly 50 years.
While speaking on Yanga 89.9FM, he reflected on his long-term marriage, admitting that being with one person can feel repetitive and emotionally routine.

According to him, he has been married to the same woman for 48 years, and it’s very boring. He described his situation as eating Egusi soup for years.
“I have been married to one woman for 48 years. It is very boring. Imagine eating the same Egusi for years, it’s boring now”.

He stressed that familiarity over time can reduce excitement in relationships, noting that the devil one knows is better than the angel one doesn’t know.
Charly emphasised that in relationships, commitment comes with routine, challenges, and moments of boredom.
The legendary singer said that every marriage required constant effort and management to sustain, including his own. He disclosed that he and his wife avoid involving third parties in their disagreement, noting that external opinions rarely help resolve marital issues.
Kicking against cheating and infidelity, he said it undermines trust.
While speaking with Uriel Oputa on Pulse, Charly disclosed some information about his present marriage. He said that before meeting his wife, he had been married 4 or 5 times, so he had a long history and experience with women, hence why he was no longer excited by women. He also disclosed that he does not believe in love and that love is not what makes a marriage work.
In 2022, Charly hinted at divorce from his wife, Diane Oputa, as he vented out over how tiring his marriage had become and questioned how his followers would feel if he told them he was returning to bachelorhood. However, the actor was able to make things work with his wife.
In an interview last year, the legendary singer revealed why he doesn’t like women anymore, especially those who are well endowed. He said his manhood can’t rise.
Recall that in April 2023 Charly Boy shared his battle with prostate cancer. He revealed that being a survivor was the greatest favor God had done for him, as he appreciated God for sparing his life, his doctor and his family for their support as well.
The street singer had recounted how he was raped by a nanny. He further revealed that by age 12, he had already contracted gonorrhea from going to a brothel.
