BREAKING: Makinde Blasts Fayose Over Kidnap Claims, Says Former Governor Needs Prayers

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has responded sharply to comments made by former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose concerning the recent kidnapping incident involving schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.

The disagreement emerged after Fayose publicly suggested that the abduction may have been politically motivated. He alleged that the incident could have been orchestrated by elements within the Oyo State Government as part of an attempt to discredit President Bola Tinubu. The former governor also questioned Makinde’s handling of the security situation.

Reacting through a statement issued by the state government, Makinde dismissed the allegations as unfounded and insensitive, especially at a time when efforts are focused on ensuring the safe return of the victims. The governor said the remarks did not deserve serious consideration and added that Fayose should be remembered in prayers rather than engaged in unnecessary political debates.

According to the statement, the state government remains fully committed to working with security agencies to secure the release of the abducted pupils and teachers. It stressed that the administration’s priority is the safety and welfare of the victims rather than responding to political accusations.

Makinde’s government further argued that making speculative comments about an ongoing security crisis could create confusion and distract authorities from the critical task of rescuing those still in captivity. Officials maintained that every available resource is being deployed to address the situation and strengthen security across affected communities.

The kidnapping incident has generated widespread concern among residents and education stakeholders, with many calling for stronger action against criminal groups operating in various parts of the country.

As investigations and rescue operations continue, the Oyo State Government has urged citizens to remain calm and support security agencies while efforts are intensified to bring the victims home safely.
