In Chebet’s last post, she mourned her late brother Rodney with a touching message admitting that he was her voice of reason.

“My Chamanet♥️ My best friend, my big brother, my biggest support and voice of reason. Even though you won’t be able to listen to this ‘certified yapper’, I will still write it. You have been there for me all my life, literally and in so many ways.”

In the message, she revealed that her brother was her support system when she moved miles away from home.

“I can’t count how many times I’ve called you when I was happy or had taken a nice picture and wanted my ego inflated. Or the number of breakdowns I’ve had and sent you paragraphs and cried on video calls, but you always listened without judging. You never missed mentioning how strong I am, even when I didn’t feel like it, and you always told me how proud you are of me. And that made things so much easier. Moving abroad was hard, but you helped me navigate it, and for that I am eternally grateful.”

Chebet painted a picture of the beautiful bond they shared, revealing that she’d introduce guys hitting on her to her brother, and he would do background checks on them.

Even with ‘boy’ problems you helped, you did background checks and promised to ‘Kuja kupigana na watu’ when I complained. You fought so many of my battles when I caused them on my own or when I disagreed with anyone, and now we have more reason to love each other fiercely just as you did to all of us.”

She was devastated that, at the time of his passing in 2024, she had just ordered a watch for him and wished he had got to see it.

“I had just finished ordering the stuff you needed and called to confirm that one was ready, and it hurts that I can’t be able to get them to you. Maybe if I had gotten you that watch on time, you’d have had better timing and stuck around longer. I wish I could be able to reintroduce you to everyone and show them the version of you that I knew. I am so grateful I got to experience this beautiful man with the biggest heart. You had a terrible laugh, but at least you made it up in other ways, like the way you carried yourself, how hard you worked, how dedicated you were to your workouts and how you treated people.”

In her last parting shot, Chebet admitted that she would miss her brother dearly, and Kenyans noted that now they were reunited in heaven.

“Everyone loved you, they all have something positive to say about you. All the way from school, to the gym, to agrics. You were loved so much chelangoto mwafrika. I have no idea how I will heal from this, or how long it will take to accept you are gone. But for the wonderful memories I have of you, and the love I hold in my heart, I will try my best. I will spend my whole life doing better and working harder just to make you proud. I love you so much chamanet. Rest easy my sweet sweet brother ♥️🕊 Live on💔🕊”
