A 22-year-old man, Awaudu Rasheed, has been sentenced to seven months imprisonment by a court in Ghana after he was found guilty of breaking into shops in Zebilla on June 13 and 14, 2026.
According to reports, the incidents occurred near the Toende Rural Bank area, where Rasheed allegedly targeted nearby retail shops during the late hours. His activities reportedly came to light on June 14 after a security officer stationed at the bank noticed suspicious movement and saw him climbing through the roof into an adjoining shop. The officer immediately raised an alarm, prompting a swift response from local security personnel.
Police from the Zebilla division moved to the scene and cordoned off the area. Rasheed was eventually apprehended after attempting to flee across rooftops in a bid to evade arrest.
Investigations revealed that the suspect had also broken into another shop the previous day, during which several household and food items were reportedly stolen. The stolen goods included beverages and provisions such as Don Simon drink, tins of sardines, milk, Milo, bathing and washing soaps, sponges, soft drinks, beer, and malt.
Following his arrest, Rasheed was arraigned before a magistrate court, where he was charged with unlawful entry and theft. After hearing the case, the court convicted him and sentenced him to seven months imprisonment.
