A man has been arrested after allegedly setting his neighbour’s minibus on fire in what witnesses described as an unprovoked act.
According to reports, the suspect allegedly poured petrol on the vehicle, believed to be the victim’s source of livelihood, before setting it ablaze. The minibus was extensively damaged by the fire.
A Facebook user, Chybeny Okpe, who claimed the incident occurred on her street, alleged that the suspect had been abusing hard drugs for some time and had repeatedly displayed erratic behaviour before the incident.
Sharing photos of the burnt vehicle, she wrote that the suspect allegedly carried out the act on Tuesday night without any known provocation.
She further stated that the suspect has since been arrested and is currently in police custody, where he is expected to face investigation and possible prosecution.
The eyewitness used the incident to caution against drug abuse, urging families and communities to help loved ones struggling with addiction before it leads to destructive consequences.
