A fire outbreak on Saturday night destroyed four vehicles and a container at a mechanic workshop located on Togunde Street, Akingbade area along Old Ife Road in Egbeda Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The incident, which occurred at about 9:16 p.m., was confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Fire Services Agency, Moroof Akinwande, who also chairs the Oyo State Fire Services Agency.
According to the statement, the fire was triggered by sparks from an engine compartment, which ignited flammable materials within the workshop.
Firefighters were alerted following a distress call from a resident, Mr Damola, prompting a swift response team led by CFS Adekola to the scene.
On arrival, officials found a container and four vehicles already engulfed in flames, with thick smoke rising from the affected area.
The fire was eventually brought under control before it could spread to nearby properties, with support from the Federal Fire Service, Ibadan Command.
Akinwande confirmed that no lives were lost, though property worth millions of naira was destroyed.
He urged workshop owners and motorists to prioritise fire safety measures, including the installation of fire extinguishers to enable quick response to emergencies.
