He said: “For us in the South-South, Goodluck Jonathan is our god for now, so I will not talk about him.”
When further questioned about his past political battles with the former president, Amaechi repeated the statement and explained that he preferred not to discuss Jonathan in a negative way.
According to him, his position is rooted in the respect he has for the former president and his achievements. He suggested that Jonathan remains a significant symbol for many people in the region because of the role he played in Nigeria’s political history.
The former Rivers State governor also made it clear that he was not interested in revisiting old political disagreements involving the former president. Instead, he chose to focus on the respect and admiration Jonathan continues to command among many South-South citizens.
