Four in Custody as Lagos Police Disrupt Secret Cult Initiation in Egbeda

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspected cult members following the disruption of an alleged initiation ceremony in the Egbeda area of Lagos State.

According to the Command, the operation was carried out based on credible intelligence indicating that a group of suspected cultists were holding a midnight initiation event within the community.

Security operatives reportedly stormed the location in a coordinated operation after surveillance confirmed suspicious activity consistent with cult initiation rituals. The intervention led to the arrest of four suspects at the scene, while others were said to have fled.

The arrested individuals are currently in police custody as investigations continue.

Preliminary findings by the police suggest that the suspects may be linked to a known cult group operating within Lagos State. Authorities also alleged that one of the suspects had previously been involved in cult-related activities and had faced disciplinary action in an academic institution.

However, the police emphasized that investigations are still ongoing to determine the full extent of their involvement and possible network connections.

During the raid, officers recovered several items suspected to be used for criminal activities, including locally made firearms, a Beretta pistol loaded with ammunition, live cartridges, and a knife.

The recovered items have been taken into custody as exhibits for further forensic examination.

The Lagos State Police Command reiterated its commitment to tackling cultism, violent crimes, and related security threats across the state. Authorities noted that intelligence-driven policing has remained central to recent successful operations targeting secret cult activities.

The Command assured residents that efforts are ongoing to dismantle criminal networks and prevent unlawful gatherings that threaten public safety.

Police confirmed that the suspects will be further interrogated, and appropriate charges will be filed in court upon completion of investigations.

Residents have also been urged to continue providing timely information to security agencies to aid in crime prevention efforts across Lagos State.
