Ghana-based Fashion Designer Bags Best Indigenous Attire Award‎

‎The popular saying that a prophet is not honoured in his hometown may have been refuted as Ghana-based Nigerian fashion designer Ajulo Ruben Ayodele
‎was recently celebrated for bringing glory and honour to his motherland.

‎The graduate of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State has made a big name for himself as one the top fashion designers in Accra, Ghana.

‎With his Tomz Fashion Hub Limited located at Adenta Taxi Rank, Accra, Ajulo is an experienced fashion designer efficiently marketing fashionable clothing and expert in translating global fashion trend into commercially successful menswear collections through sustainable material sourcing and perfect designs.

‎Ajulo is not just a fashion designer but a registered Master Craftsman. His certificate of registration issued on 10th April 2026 by the Ghana Technical and Vocational Education Training Service (Ghana TVETS) empowers him to train prospective fashion designers on short time training programme.

‎His journey into the lucrative fashion industry actually began soon after completing his national diploma programme in Marketing at Rufus Giwa Polytechnic in 2016 when he moved to Lagos to start a career in fashion designing as an apprentice in Isolo, Lagos. After three years of apprenticeship, the Iwaro-Oka Akoko-born fashion designer started his own fashion outfit serving a list of clienteles in Isolo and it’s environs.

‎However, the economic downturn of the country forced Ajulo to seek greener pastures in Ghana in 2023 where he has since become a household name in Accra servicing the creme de la creme in the fashion world and rising to become one of the biggest prospects in the Ghanaian fashion runway.

‎Impressed by Ajulo’s success story, the Isolo branch of the Nigerian Union of Tailors (NUT) decided to honour him in with ‘Best Indigenous Attire  Designer’ award of the year.

‎In a letter of award dated 17th September 2025 and jointly signed by the NUT Chairman, Kehinde Adeshina and the secretary, Latifat Aina, the union stated that Ajulo’s award was in recognition of his contribution to the growth and progress of the fashion industry particularly in Ghanaian and Nigerian native attires.

‎The fashion designer was among eminent dignitaries who were bestowed with recognition award and investiture of patrons and matrons during the 31st anniversary and inauguration of new executive committee members of the union held on Saturday 6th December  2025.

‎The Chairman of the union, Kehinde Adebayo said the honour bestowed on Ajulo is well-deserving. “He is a good ambassador of our union in far away Ghana where he has been proving his mettle as one of the top fashion designers with flair for exquisite indigenous attires.

‎”We are highly honoured to have him as one of our offshoots who has done well for himself. We want to encourage him to do more and we hope this award will inspire him to do more for the indigenous fashion industry both in Ghana and Nigeria,” says the NUT boss.
