Verydarkman Rejects ‘Akara and Corn Empowerment,’ Backs Vocational Skills With ₦1.5m

Social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) has announced a ₦1.5 million skill acquisition support programme for six Nigerians, saying he wants to help young people learn practical vocational skills rather than rely on small-scale business grants.

The announcement comes in reaction to recent comments by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, who said government grants could help Nigerians start businesses such as frying akara or roasting corn.

In a post on social media, VDM wrote:

“I don’t want you to fry akara, roast corn by the roadside or sell kulikuli. The comment section is open—drop your idea, let me pay for it. I have increased the money to ₦1.5 million for six persons to get handwork.”

He added:

“Good luck… Say no to akara and corn empowerment, get handwork.”

The activist invited interested Nigerians to submit their vocational training ideas, stating that six beneficiaries would be selected for sponsorship.
