If anyone was in doubt about Mr P’s love for his fans, the Nigerian singer of the defunct P-Square group has once again cleared all uncertainty by fiercely expressing his deep love for them.
Born Peter Okoye, the businessman said he is willing to challenge anyone who makes insinuations about his fans.
“If you say anything about my fans, I’ll challenge you,” he said on The Good Morning Nigeria Show on Cool FM, Lagos.
Mr P doesn’t consider it a problem when critics and trolls online come for him on X (formerly Twitter).
However, he stated that he’s drawn to those people who place some sense of value on the quality of his creativity, talent, and musical work.
“If you say anything about me on Twitter, I’ll respond. It’s normal,” he said, adding that “those ones that value me, like I said, it’s for me, they are the real energy here. They are the ones that I engage with.”
He said that he intentionally built his fanbase to truly know who they are and remains personally engaged with them because he sees himself as human before being a celebrity.

“I started building my own individual fan base. Just because I wanted to know who is really a Mr P fan? Who are they? And I started picking them out,” the singer said.
“When I post online, I see sometimes I go on my post, and I’m getting 6 million views on the post. And maybe 7, 8 thousand 0. Now, I go there and say, ‘Who are these people?’ Are they new fans? Or are they the ones that I just say, ‘Okay, you know, from the group?”
“So, I find a way to manage them. I say, ‘Hey, listen. I realize that I have die-hard fans that if you say, ‘pim’, they’ll say, ‘Leave Mr P alone.’”
Mr P, who recently released the visual to his latest solo single, “I Can’t Look Away,” which he produced, mentioned that he had publicly predicted the success of his body of work months earlier. This was because he was confident of his craft.
He recounted how one of his harshest critics admitted to hating him but changed his opinion after hearing the new release.
The dancer disclosed that the person even went as far as declaring himself a fan and suggested that the public owed Peter (P-Square) an apology.
