Igboho Issues Ultimatum To Fulani Community Over Alleged Kidnapping In Oyo, Warns Of Retaliation

Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has issued a stern warning to members of the Fulani community in Igboho, Oyo State, over alleged cases of kidnapping and rising insecurity in the area, demanding immediate action and the release of abducted victims.

In a video circulating on social media on Saturday, Igboho was seen addressing Fulani community leaders and elders at a meeting reportedly convened alongside traditional rulers in the area.

He expressed outrage over recent violent incidents allegedly linked to kidnappers in the community, including the killing of a pregnant woman and a ransom bearer, accusing some individuals within the Fulani settlement of terrorising residents.

According to him, the situation had pushed him to the brink, but he said he had restrained himself following appeals by traditional rulers and elders in the town.

“You cannot be kidnapping people in our hometown. You kidnapped someone in my hometown; she was pregnant, and you still killed her. The person who brought the ransom, you still killed him and spared only one person,” he was quoted as saying in the video.

Igboho insisted that his restraint was temporary and motivated by respect for community leaders, warning that patience should not be mistaken for weakness.

“I am Sunday Igboho. I am calm because my fathers asked me to be calm with you. Let this be the last time such a thing will happen. Has any Fulani man been kidnapped in this town? Please talk to your people,” he added.

In another part of the video, the activist issued a more direct warning, saying the situation could escalate if the alleged killings and kidnappings continued.

“I will enter your household and kill everybody. You can’t be kidnapping people in my hometown. I am Sunday Igboho, and I am from this hometown,” he threatened.

He also issued what he described as a two-hour ultimatum for the release of abducted victims, demanding the immediate freedom of a woman and children allegedly kidnapped from their residence.

“I am giving you two hours to release the woman and the children you kidnapped overnight at their residence,” he declared.

In a separate footage, Igboho was also seen leading his supporters into the Oyo National Reserve Park, where he alleged that armed herders had taken over farmlands traditionally used by residents.

He claimed the area, once used for farming by local communities, had been converted into a settlement by armed herders, warning that such occupation would not be tolerated.

“Like this reserve area, our fathers were farming there until these Fulani people turned it into their settlement and started rearing cattle in this bush. Once we rescue those children, we must not see any of them in this bush,” he said.

The incident adds to ongoing tensions surrounding insecurity, kidnapping, and farmer–herder disputes in parts of Oyo State, where communities have repeatedly raised concerns over violent attacks and land use conflicts.

Authorities in the state have yet to issue an official response to the latest video at the time of filing this report.
