Dear Distinguished Senator Dickson,
We, the members, coordinators, and grassroots stakeholders of Imolites for Peter Obi & NDC, Orlu Zone Chapter, address this open letter to you and to the entire leadership of NDC with a clear message from the people of Imo west Senatorial District (Orlu zone)
After weeks of wide consultations across the 12 LGAs that make up Orlu Zone, the voice of the Obidient grassroots is one and united. We need only Hon. Uche Ben Odunze as the NDC flag bearer for Senate in Orlu Zone. He is the choice of the people. He enjoys their trust, acceptance, and mandate because he has remained with them at the grassroots and understands their pains and aspirations.
We also use this opportunity to reject in totality any attempt to impose any other candidate on Orlu Zone. The days when Abuja cabals will sit down and handpick who represents Orlu zone are gone. We are aware of the underground moves currently happening at the National Secretariat. We know it is the work of APC cabals and hijackers of people’s mandate who are trying to sneak APC candidates into NDC clothing just to deceive Orlu zone people and harvest our votes for their personal interest.
Let it be on record that we the Obidients of Orlu Zone will reject any APC candidate parading under NDC. Orlu Zone belongs to the Obidient Movement and to Ndigbo. It is not for sale to political merchants or mandate hijackers.
Therefore, we state without fear or contradiction: Give us Hon. Uche Ben Odunze as our senatorial candidate or NDC should forget about the Senate seat in Orlu Zone. We must take back our country, and we will start by protecting our mandate and respecting the will of the people at the grassroots.
Distinguished Senator, we believe in your leadership and in the integrity of NDC. We urge you to intervene, protect internal democracy, and ensure that the voice of Orlu zone people is respected. Anything short of this will cost NDC the Senatorial seat in Orlu zone and destroy the trust the grassroots have in the party.
This is the position of Orlu people. This is the voice of the Obidient Movement. We await your action in defense of justice and democracy.
