The third batch of Nigerians evacuated from South Africa has arrived in Lagos amid weeks of anti-immigration protests and rising xenophobic tensions in the country.
The returnees arrived on Tuesday aboard an Air Peace aircraft, which touched down at the cargo terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, at about 10:54 a.m.
The latest evacuation is part of the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to bring home Nigerians affected by the unrest in South Africa, where anti-immigration protests have triggered concerns over the safety of foreign nationals.
