Content creator and comedian Layi Wasabi has shared how his perception of Wizkid’s music has shifted over time as his personal life experiences evolved.
Speaking about his long-term admiration for the singer, Layi said he has been a fan of Wizkid since the early days of his career and often engaged in discussions during his school years about comparisons between Wizkid and Davido.
He noted that there was a phase when he grew less interested in Wizkid’s sound, especially as the artiste began to embrace a more calm and reflective musical style.
According to him, that period coincided with his preference for energetic songs that focused on hustle, struggle, and ambition.
However, Layi explained that as his life situation improved, his taste in music also shifted. He added that he later came to appreciate Wizkid’s softer and more laid-back style again, saying his personal growth influenced how he connects with music.
“I was a Wizkid fan from the beginning. I had a lot of argument in school because of Wizkid & Davido. When he started making soft music, I kept complaining that I need to hear the struggle but I started to enjoy Wizkid’s music again when life got better for me,” he said.
