Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has reacted to the growing trend of online criticism directed at entertainers over national matters, saying creatives should not be unfairly targeted for expressing their views or carrying on with their work.
Taking to social media, the actress lamented what she described as constant attacks on individuals in the entertainment industry whenever they share opinions or continue promoting their projects during challenging times in the country.
Amusa pointed out that filmmaking and other creative ventures often require huge financial commitments, with many practitioners relying on loans and investments to bring their projects to life. As a result, she argued that expecting them to halt their means of livelihood because of ongoing national concerns is unrealistic.
She also faulted the pressure placed on celebrities to frequently address political, economic, and security issues, stressing that public figures should have the freedom to decide how they engage with such matters without being subjected to online backlash.
According to the actress, she has no intention of allowing social media criticism to determine how she uses her platform or communicates with her audience.
While speaking on the issue, Amusa extended her condolences and prayers to the families affected by the recent abduction of teachers and students in Oyo State. She expressed hope that those in captivity would be rescued safely and reunited with their loved ones as soon as possible.

I have other strings of income, don’t come under my post to act silly, I’ll send you home…
That said, May God bring succor to the family of the kids and teachers kidnapped in Oyo state..May they return home safely 🙏”
