A man has recounted how a simple food order turned into disappointment after the package he collected from a nearby vendor tore open and spilled on the road.
The man, who had ordered 5 eggs, 5 pieces of yam, and chicken while working from home due to hunger, said he waited about an hour before receiving a message that his food was ready. He later went to pick it up, paid, and began walking home.
However, tragedy struck midway through his journey.
Accident on the road
As he was about to cross the road, the black nylon bag containing the food suddenly tore from the bottom, causing the entire meal to scatter on the ground.
He described standing briefly in shock, unable to process what had just happened, before eventually gathering the remaining portions of the meal from the ground.
The visibly frustrated customer then returned to the vendor to explain the situation.
The vendor, upon hearing what happened, responded, “Eiyah… what are we going to do now?”
Return to vendor and reaction
Following the incident, the man requested another nylon bag for the little food that was salvaged, which the vendor provided before he left.
He said he maintained his calm throughout the experience despite feeling angry and disappointed.
The incident has since left him considering whether to patronise the vendor again, highlighting everyday frustrations customers sometimes face with food delivery and packaging quality.
The situation has sparked reflection on food handling standards among small vendors, especially around packaging durability during takeaway deliveries.
