The alleged first wife of late Nollywood legend John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has broken her silence following the recent public appeal for financial assistance made by his widow, Stella Maris Okafor.
Her reaction comes days after Stella, alongside her children, told influencer King Mitchy that they were facing severe financial hardship, claiming they had been without electricity for two months, now fetched water from a well, and struggled to meet basic needs.
Speaking in a viral video, the woman, who identified herself as Mr Ibu’s first wife, accused Stella of mismanaging the late actor’s assets and the public donations raised during his illness.
According to her, while Mr Ibu was hospitalized, Stella allegedly had his first son and his adopted daughter, Jasmine Okafor, arrested over disagreements surrounding funds donated by Nigerians for his medical treatment.
She further alleged that after the actor’s death, Stella sold several of his properties, including a house in Enugu reportedly worth about ₦18 million.
The woman also claimed Stella told the family that water was damaging Mr Ibu’s Lagos residence, prompting them to secure another apartment for her. However, she alleged the move was part of a plan to sell the Lagos property.
According to her, after Mr Ibu’s burial, Stella and those around her allegedly spent the proceeds from the sales and other funds, leaving the family in its current situation.
She concluded by describing Stella’s present circumstances as “karma,” insisting that even if Nigerians donated money to her again, she would eventually return to seek public assistance.
