Nollywood actress Oma Nnadi has written a touching tribute to her colleague, Alex Ekubo, following his Service of Songs.
While sharing photos of herself and the actor over the years, she revealed that they had been close since 2014, and the deceased was more than a friend to her; he was like family, a confidant, a brother, and a constant source of wisdom.
She said from her very first cinema project, where he stood by her as the lead actor, to their countless conversations about life, he was always there. She recalled that the last time they spoke, he sounded just as he always did, strong, cheerful and full of hope.
According to her, this is why the loss feels unreal, as he always reassured her that he was okay. Oma said that, though her heart still refuses to accept it, she takes comfort in knowing that he has only left this world, but hasn’t left the hearts of those who loved him.

Yesterday, after your procession, reality finally began to sink in. Though my heart still refuses to accept it fully, I take comfort in knowing that you have only left this earth; you have not left the hearts of those who loved you.

Refreshing your memory, news broke out last month that the light-skinned actor had passed away on Monday, May 11th, after a battle with Cancer and was 40 years old.
In a heartbreaking statement, his family announced that the actor had passed away after a brief but courageous battle. According to the statement, he passed away at Evercare Hospital due to complications arising from advanced metastatic kidney cancer.
On Wednesday, June 10th, a Service of Songs was held for the actor at the Monarch Event Centre, Lekki. As expected, many celebrities came out to honour the late actor. The likes of Nancy Isime, IK Ogbonna, Funke Akindele, Mary Njoku, Segun Arinze, Chioma Akpotha, Uchenna Nnanna, Yomi Casual, Ayo Makun, Ini Edo, Omoni Oboli, Ruth Kadiri, Kate Henshaw, Ebuka Obi Uchendu, Mbong Amata, Stan Nze and his wife, Blessing Obasi, Nkechi Blessing, Bambam, Funny Bone, Uti Nwachukwu, Chigul and more were in attendance.
Last year, netizens expressed concern about Alex’s absence on social media. The light-skinned actor hasn’t been active on Instagram since 2024.
Speaking up for him, Oma Nnadi had addressed those sending her messages about him. Oma told them to stop looking for Alex as he is healthy, well and fine. She noted how everyone must not be on social media.
