For many of her followers, the new car symbolises far more than personal success. It is another chapter in a story of determination, resilience and the transformative power of entrepreneurship.

Just months earlier, in November 2025, the Alicia’s Mtumba Bales founder touched hearts when she shared photographs of a bungalow she had built for her parents in Butere.

In an emotional video posted online, she took viewers on a tour of the nearly completed home, reflecting on how far her family had come.

The three-bedroom house features a dining room, sitting room, kitchen, toilet and bathroom, offering a significant upgrade from the modest mud house where she spent her childhood.

“Our old house only had three rooms; one sitting room and two bedrooms,” she recalled.

Alongside images of the new house, Alicia also shared photographs of the family’s former home, a humble mud structure that stood as a reminder of years spent navigating financial challenges.

The contrast between the two homes underscored a journey defined by perseverance and an unwavering desire to improve her family’s circumstances.

Alicia explained that her parents would move into the new house as soon as it became habitable, with finishing touches to be completed while they settled into their new living space.

The entrepreneur’s success story began with a single bale of second-hand clothing. Rather than seeking quick rewards, she steadily reinvested her earnings, expanded her customer base and learned the intricacies of the business.

Over time, Alicia’s Mtumba Bales grew into a thriving enterprise that not only supports her family but also creates opportunities for others through employment.

“I started small, and see how it has grown. That step was important because I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t start,” she reflected.

To Alicia, the second-hand clothing trade is more than a business. It represents opportunity, consistency and the belief that humble beginnings do not determine one’s future.

Even as she celebrates her latest acquisition, she remains focused on encouraging others to pursue their dreams with patience and determination.

She noted that even when things seem to be moving slowly, others should use her story to be encouraged that there’s hope.

From growing up in a small mud house to buying a family home for her parents and now driving a new Peugeot, Alicia’s journey continues to serve as a powerful reminder that small beginnings can lead to extraordinary outcomes.
