Outrage as Fayose Links Oyo School Kidnapping to Political Plot Against Tinubu

Ibadan, Oyo State — Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has alleged that the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State may have been politically orchestrated to discredit President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Fayose made the claim during a live television interview, where he suggested that the incident could have been staged or manipulated by political actors to “blackmail” the Federal Government over rising insecurity in the country.

According to him, the circumstances surrounding the attack raise questions that warrant deeper scrutiny, insisting that some elements within the political space may be exploiting security challenges for political advantage.

It may have been orchestrated in a way to blackmail the President, Fayose alleged during the interview.

The controversy stems from the recent armed attack on school communities in Oyo State, where gunmen invaded schools in parts of Oriire Local Government Area, abducting several students and teachers.

Security reports indicate that the attackers stormed the communities in large numbers, carrying out coordinated operations that left residents in panic. At least one teacher was reportedly killed during the assault, while dozens of students and staff were taken away.

The incident has intensified concerns about the recurring wave of school kidnappings across parts of Nigeria, particularly in rural and semi-urban communities.

Following the attack, President Bola Tinubu condemned the abduction and directed security agencies to intensify rescue operations aimed at securing the release of the victims.

The Oyo State Government also deployed security resources to the affected areas and pledged collaboration with federal authorities to track down the perpetrators.

At the time of filing this report, neither the Federal Government nor the Oyo State Government had issued a direct response to Fayose’s specific allegation.

Fayose’s comments have sparked debate across political and public circles, with critics describing the claim as unsubstantiated and potentially sensitive, given the ongoing efforts to rescue abducted victims.
