The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Edo State Command, has successfully rescued a 15-year-old girl who was abducted in Oghu Community, Ewohimi, Esan South East Local Government Area of Edo State, and arrested two suspects linked to the crime.
According to security reports, the teenager was kidnapped on June 19, 2026, after she reportedly left home in the Oghu Community area to run an errand but did not return. Shortly after her disappearance, the family allegedly received distress calls from unknown persons demanding ransom and warning them against involving security agencies.
The incident immediately prompted a coordinated response from security operatives in the state.
The NSCDC Edo State Command activated an intelligence-led operation involving surveillance, technical tracking, and community information gathering. This led operatives to Oghu Community in Ewohimi, where the victim was eventually located and rescued safely.
During the operation, two suspects were arrested in connection with the abduction. Preliminary investigations reportedly linked them to the kidnapping network responsible for holding the girl.
A senior NSCDC official in the state confirmed that the rescue was achieved through “intelligence-driven and tactical deployment, adding that efforts are ongoing to dismantle wider criminal networks operating in the area.
The rescued teenager has since been taken into protective custody for medical evaluation and counselling, while the suspects remain in detention and are assisting investigators.
