Oyebanji Wins Ekiti Guber Poll in Landslide, Defeats PDP, ADP Candidates

The Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday declared Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election, securing a decisive victory over his closest rivals.

The Returning Officer for the election, Adenike Oladiji, announced that Oyebanji polled 319,224 votes to defeat Oluwole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party, who garnered 40,543 votes, and Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Party, who secured 12,872 votes.

Oladiji said a total of 384,940 voters were accredited for the exercise, with 375,777 valid votes recorded, while 6,332 votes were rejected.

The result affirms Oyebanji’s re-election bid, consolidating the dominance of the APC in the South-West state amid a largely peaceful electoral process.

Further details on voter turnout patterns and party performance across local government areas were still being awaited as of the time of filing this report.
