The Oyo State Government has imposed a 16-hour curfew across ten local government areas, effective from Wednesday, June 24, 2026, citing security concerns in communities bordering the Old Oyo National Park.
Approved by Governor Seyi Makinde, the restriction runs daily from 4:00pm to 8:00am and will remain in force for an initial period of 48 hours, after which the situation will be reviewed and further directives issued.
The directive, contained in a memo signed by Secretary to the State Government Professor Musibau Babatunde, covers the local government areas of Oriire, Orelope, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iseyin, Olorunsogo and Atiba.
Residents in the affected areas have been urged to comply fully with the curfew and cooperate with security agencies deployed to enforce it.
